Welcoming Mats

Smiling Pitbull’s Welcoming Mats were born as a simple solution to an age old aging problem. Every morning when Anabella was lifted from the bed (yes, they both sleep in the bed with me) and placed down, her tired knees wouldn’t support her and her feet would slide from under her on the hardwood floor, and she’d end up splayed out on her belly. She needed something under her feet which would just offer enough grip for her to establish herself. An artificial grass mat was the answer. Soon after, Jules by the Sea in Santa Barbara’s Funk Zone asked me to create these pieces in different shapes to sell as welcome mats.

These mats work great to remove sand and dirt from shoes, feet and paws. They’re super durable and easy to clean. Made of upcycled material and individually hand cut in the Smiling Pitbull shop in Santa Barbara, and available in five different shapes—the heart, dog bone, shamrock, dolphin and sprinter van—and in a number of sizes, they’re a welcoming alternative to your ordinary door mat.

Our Welcoming Mats look and work great on porches, dog doors, camper vans, RVs, hot tubs, outdoor showers, tent camping and even for doggie pottie training.

These are available here and at Jules by the Sea in Santa Barbara’s Funk Zone, and at the Montecito Pet Shop on the Mesa.
